Twin River Morgans

John with Babe, our Belgian cross logging horse, in Montana 1989

About Us

John and I met in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness in Oregon. He had just finished two weeks of camping on horse back with a church youth group. I was looking for the trail head to Round Lake. He rode on up to my car on his horse  to ask if he could help.

As I was fixing my back pack and fly pole he wandered over. The rest is history........

We married in 1985, bought our cabin in Libby Montana in 1986 and moved there in 1988. Our cabin was on 3 acres and did not have any power or phone. We had Forest Service land on three sides. We received permission to remove the dead beetle killed lodge pole pines, bought Babe our logging horse and proceeded to clear the area of the severe fire danger. John had manufactured his own band saw mill which we cut and sold lumber from the lodge pole. It was a real adventure! We lived there for 8 years before moving to Sandpoint Idaho.

We bought our first Morgan in 1990 while we were in Libby Montana from Bruce and Marge Brown of Silver Sage Morgans. John was always partial to the Morgan breed and I followed not having a particular preference. Along the way we have had nine of our own foals. We have yet to miss one foaling! Our Morgan's have moved with us from Montana to Idaho and finally here to Southern Indiana.

Here in Indiana, not only do we have electricity (ha ha) we also have 50 acres of playground.. There are rolling hills, pastures and woodlands. A great place for enjoying our horses and starting the  young ones.

The passion for driving began with our experience in horse logging. There was a working trust between you and the logging horse. They had the freedom to move more freely, able to look, shift and pick through the rough skid trails all the while being tuned in to your hand and your voice.
